Welcome to HoneyTrek.com

While we continue building out HoneyTrek we will answer a few basic things:

Q: What is HoneyTrek?
A: HoneyTrek is our slightly delayed (we got married March 12, 2011) honeymoon trip around the world. The plan is to go places too far to visit while we have a job and too rugged to do when we’re old. Don’t try to see everything; move slowly but thoroughly. Have a plan to guide us but don’t let an itinerary bog us down. If we love a place, we’ll get to know it, meeting locals and living the local way. We not trying to change the world but we’d like help where we can.

That said, this is an E.B.White quote that rings very true to our hearts:

“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to change the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it very hard to plan each day”
E.B.White

We hope that our HoneyTrek allows us to do both: Experience so many amazing people/places/foods/animals/environments/music/architecture/art/ideas and at the same time volunteer and constantly brainstorm how we can apply our skill sets to make the world an amazing/loving/peaceful/self-sustaining/smiling place.

Q: Where will you be going?
A: While we are leaving our trip pretty open-ended and not making many hard and fast plans, here is our loose itinerary:

– Brazil
– Argentina
– Uruguay
– Chile
– Peru
– Bolivia

Africa:
– South Africa

  1. Hello, friends! So excited for your upcoming trip. Hopefully we can share adventure tales from the road. I absolutely love your E.B. White quote: I may have to adopt it to add to our inspiration list. It captures the conundrum so well. Best to you as you prepare to embark!

    1. Hey guys, just wanted to send some love your way. You two are so kind, and we are definitely looking to sitting down and chatting once we get on the road, and the maddness of switching off our life settles here in NYC. haha.

  2. Hooray! I love the blog name.  We will be doing something very similar as a post honeymoon honeymoon.  Ish.  Ok so not really the same but we try!

  3. Can’t wait for this. How long is your trip?

    1. 16 months. Yeah isnt the excitement ridiculous? I mean the world is our oyster….cant even imagine you guys, leaving in 7 days. That is awesome. Looking forward to following along on your parallel journey, and learning lots from you guys about Asia!

  4. Hey, just found you guys through Twitter! I’m looking forward to reading about your upcoming travels. Looks like you’ve got quite the journey planned out! 😀 Happy travels

    1. Thanks so much Audrey, both for following, and for taking the time to leave a comment. We look forward to sharing lots of crazy experiences over the next few years…..

  5. What an awesome plan! We married and honeymooned for one month on a cruise around South America. There is a geocache called “Fin del Mundo” in Ushuaia at the end of the world, and you must tango in Buenos Aires…stop in at Cafe Tortoni for the authentic experience. The national tango school is right upstairs. If you’ve got the cash, fly over the Nazca Lines out of Pisco, Peru.

    1. Staci, thanks SO much for your tips, and for leaving a comment. That means a lot. If you think of any other tips, we made a blog post for each country so we can keep them all in one place, would love to hear them –
